Candle Care & Safety
To ensure you get quality burning and scent experience from your candle by following a few simple steps.
- Place the candle on a flat, heat resistant surface.
- Never leave a candle unattended and keep out of reach from children and pets
- Keep the candle away from any flammable materials.
- Do not use the lid to extinguish a burning candle.
- With your first burn make sure you allow the candle to burn for approx. 2-3hrs or until the wax has completely melted to the edge of the glass jar. This will prevent tunnelling and promote even wax melt, allowing for maximum burn time of the candle.
- Trim the wick to about 5mm before each burn.
- If the wick looks like it starting to mushroom or smoke while burning, you may not have been trimmed the wick short enough.
- When trimming, always extinguish the flame, let the candle cool down to room temperature, remove any wick debris and trim the wick before relighting.
- An untrimmed wick and wick debris can cause the flame to burn higher than expected, or the wick debris could catch fire.
- If black discolouration occurs inside the jar, simply wipe away with a damp cloth when vessel is cooled or prior to lighting. This maybe a sign your wick is too long.
- Do not let the candle burn for any longer than 4hrs at a time.
- Do not let candle burn completely to the bottom of the glass, stop ~1cm from the bottom of the glass to prevent glass jar cracking or potentially catching fire.
- Keep lit candles away from draughts, ceiling fans and any air currents. Any form of air current can cause uneven burning, smoking, diminish the scent throw and even decrease the burn time.
- Place burning candles at least 10cm apart from one another.
