Why does my candle not look as perfect as candles in shops?
- All candles by Evoke My Senses are hand poured in small batches where no two candles come out perfectly the same. There may be slight imperfections in the colour of the wax, slight cracking of the wax, the wick maybe be slightly off centre or sometimes there is the occasional bubble in wax. This will not affect the scent or quality of the product.
Why does my candle have a bit of discolouration and/or frosting on top of the wax?
- Discolouration and frosting are a combination of using different fragrance oils that have slightly different colour bases and the natural effect of using 100% Soy Wax. This will not affect the scent or quality of the product
What fragrance oils are you using in the Soy Wax candles?
- Evoke My Senses uses Premium Fragrance Oils which are non-toxic, vegan and cruelty free.
Why isn't the scent throw of Soy Wax candle as strong as the candles in shops?
- Our Soy Wax candles are natural and have the maximum fragrance oil load added to the Soy Wax. Adding more fragrance oil than the maximum load does not increase the scent throw a candle can give due to the natural properties of Soy Wax. Commercially made candles are generally made with Paraffin Wax with can give a stronger scent throw, but are less environmentally friendly and not good for your health.
What is the difference then between Soy Wax and Paraffin Wax?
- Soy Wax is 100% natural and contains no additives or blends. Soy Wax is derived from soybean oil and is a renewable product, non-toxic and biodegradable. Paraffin Wax is derived from Petroleum oil and a combination with hydrocarbons. Paraffin Wax comes from a non-renewable energy source and when burned can release carcinogens into the air which is bad for you and bad for the environment.
Why is it I have followed the instructions on how to burn my Soy Wax candle but sometimes when it sets there are visual imperfections?
- Soy Wax is natural and due to people living in different climates in Australia determines how the Soy Wax sets depending on the temperature and humidity in the room. How it sets will not affect the candle when it is relit.
What sort of wick has been used in the candle?
- The wicks that have been used for Evoke My Senses candles are HTP wicks which are made from braided cotton. They give off a clean burn with less mushrooming of the wick and less soot.
What is the best way to trim the wick?
- The best way to trim the wick is with a wick trimmer and it should be trimmed approx 5mm above the Soy Wax before each burn.
When should I stop burning my candle or candle tin?
- You should stop burning your candle or candle tin ~1cm from the bottom.
